COMPONENTS I
Prerequisite: None
Students will gain a better understanding and develop the techniques
required to create the necessary design components that are directly
involved in the design of fashion garments. They will discover the many
materials, processes and technologies used in the industry today as well as
their historic manufacturers, as well as taking their original artwork from
concept to creation.

CELL MANUFACTURING
Prerequisite: FASH 1013 OR PATT 1022
This course is an introduction to the apparel industry. Students will learn
how the industry operates with regard to the creation, production and
marketing of apparel. The purpose of the course is to introduce and
communicate manufacturing processes. Students will develop a working
relationship with fashion and pattern designers to gain working knowledge of
terms and methods of the industry. Fashion and pattern designer/assistant
fashion and pattern designer sample-room practices are incorporated.

COMPONENTS II
Prerequisite: MANU 1001
Components II will allow students to use the knowledge and techniques
learned in Components I to further develop their skills with additional
materials used as fashion components, such as feather, leather, etc.
Students will gain a better understanding and develop techniques required to
adapt and create design components directly involved in garment design. They
will discover the many materials, processes, and techniques used in the
industry today as well as their historical origins. Upon completion of this
class, the student will be able to clarify and employ appropriate industry
terminology when working with other designers and manufacturers, as well as
taking their original artwork from concept to creation.

INTERMEDIATE MANUFACTURING
Prerequisite: FASH 1013 OR PATT 1022
An intermediate course that explores the world of apparel manufacturing,
including production, sourcing, control, planning, costing, resources,
allocation and feasibility. Projects including following a product from
concept to production and delivery of the product to the retailer.

ANALYSIS OF HAUTE COUTURE GARMENT DESIGN
Prerequisite: COST 2003
A current overview of Haute Couture garment design, with an emphasis on
students developing patterns in this highly specialized area.

DESIGN INTERPRETATION & IMAGES
Prerequisite: COST 2003
Unique class set up by the President of ACA that explores the symbiotic
relationship between pattern design and fashion design. This course is
designed as an exercise for upcoming industry experience.

ANALYSIS OF HAUTE COUTURE ACCESSORIES
Prerequisite: COST 2003
A current overview of Haute Couture garment design and its relationship to
various accessories, with an emphasis on students developing patterns in
this highly specialized area, as well as an analysis of merchandising
industry to boost sales, and market research. Lectures by leaders practicing
in their respective fields. Students will develop product knowledge, select
resources, and apply research information to product line accessories.
