MARK 1001 TRENDS I                                                                                                                               Prerequisite: None                                                                                                                                           This course has two goals: 1) to develop a basic awareness of the fundamentals of all aspects of the business of fashion; and 2) to study of the flow of European and American Haute Couture to Prêt-a-porter. This course introduces students to famous designers; students then research 4- 5 designers followed by a presentation of their life story.                                                                                                                          2 UNITS: 11 LECTURE HOURS / 22 LAB HOURS

MARK 1002 TRENDS II                                                                                                                                  Prerequisite: MARK 1001                                                                                                                                    This course concentrates on developing an idea resource book based on the analysis and discussion of different garments [clipped and sorted] from fashion magazines and other media. The student will develop an awareness of fashion trends.                                                                                                                           2 UNITS: 11 LECTURE HOURS / 22 LAB HOURS

MARK 2011 TRENDS & CYCLES I                                                                                                                 Prerequisite: MARK 1001                                                                                                                                   A study of the history of fashion from the Antiquity to the 19th century, with emphasis on recognition and understanding of trends and cycles and their application to current fashion.                                                     2 UNITS: 11 LECTURE HOURS / 22 LAB HOURS

MARK 2012 TRENDS & CYCLES II                                                                                                             Prerequisite: MARK 1001                                                                                                                                   A study of the history of fashion that examines the trends and cycles of fashion in Europe and the United States in the 19th and the 20th century and their application to current fashion.                                             2 UNITS: 11 LECTURE HOURS / 22 LAB HOURS

MARK 2020 CLOTHING AND SOCIETY                                                                                                     Prerequisite: MARK 1002                                                                                                                                    An advanced marketing course that examines the development of dress, adornment, and appearance as a nonverbal mode of communication and explores the meaning of clothing in our global fashion market place.                                                                                                                                                                     3 UNITS: 33 LECTURE HOURS

MARK 3031 TRENDS & PREVISION I                                                                                                        Prerequisite: MARK 1001                                                                                                                                   A course that prepares students to predict upcoming fashion trends by developing cognitive and visual skills under the supervision of a professional designer. Student emphasis on focusing on the objective, developing a strategy, determining design criteria, doing research, and crating a concept. This course will examine each of these steps in detail, encouraging students to develop their own concepts.                        2 UNITS: 11 LECTURE HOURS / 22 LAB HOURS

MARK 3032 TRENDS & PREVISION II                                                                                                           Prerequisite: MARK 1001                                                                                                                                   A course designed to help students develop creative and prediction skills domestically and internationally. In conjunction with events throughout the world, this course emphasizes the movement of social, political, and cultural aspects of art and entertainment. Field trips and guest speakers.                    2 UNITS: 11 LECTURE HOURS / 22 LAB HOURS
