TRENDS I
Prerequisite: None
This course has two goals: 1) to develop a basic awareness of the
fundamentals of all aspects of the business of fashion; and 2) to study of
the flow of European and American Haute Couture to Prêt-a-porter. This
course introduces students to famous designers; students then research 4- 5
designers followed by a presentation of their life story.

This course concentrates on developing an idea resource book based on the
analysis and discussion of different garments [clipped and sorted] from
fashion magazines and other media. The student will develop an awareness of
fashion trends.

A study of the history of fashion from the Antiquity to the 19th
century, with emphasis on recognition and understanding of trends and cycles

CLOTHING AND SOCIETY

An advanced marketing course that examines the development of dress,
adornment, and appearance as a nonverbal mode of communication and explores
the meaning of clothing in our global fashion market place.

TRENDS & PREVISION I
Prerequisite: MARK 1001
A course that prepares students to predict upcoming fashion trends by
developing cognitive and visual skills under the supervision of a
professional designer. Student emphasis on focusing on the objective,
developing a strategy, determining design criteria, doing research, and
crating a concept. This course will examine each of these steps in detail,
encouraging students to develop their own concepts.

TRENDS & PREVISION II
Prerequisite: MARK 1001
A course designed to help students develop creative and prediction skills
domestically and internationally. In conjunction with events throughout the
world, this course emphasizes the movement of social, political, and
cultural aspects of art and entertainment. Field trips and guest speakers.
