CREATIVE PROCESS
Prerequisite: MARK 2011
Inspiration and imagination fuel a designer’s creativity. To address
creativity throughout the design process, Creative Process uses a
multidisciplinary approach taken from art historical, mythological,
historical, psychological, and sociological traditions. Creative Process
addresses students as it answers the following questions: what is
creativity, and how does it manifest in the world; how does my creativity
communicate with me; how do I communicate my creativity to the world; what
is the connection between the metaphorical and the literal creative process;
and how do designers create a highly marketable garment that responds to the
desires of the haute couture market? The course examines the creative design
and production process in general by analyzing the creativity necessary to
concretize inspired and imagined ideas and by exploring each student’s
personal creative process. Throughout the course, students develop their
critical thinking skills by exploring the creative and design processes.
